Why a Facebook Video Will Not Download (and How to Fix It)
Start here: is the video public?
This is the cause in the large majority of cases, and it is easy to test. Open a private or incognito window, make sure you are not signed in to Facebook, and paste the video URL. If it does not play there, no downloader can reach it — not this one, not any other. What you are seeing is Facebook correctly refusing to serve content to a logged-out visitor.
Videos limited to friends, posted inside a private or closed group, published from a private profile, or shared as a Story all fall into this category. A tool that claims to bypass this is either asking for your Facebook password or lying.
The post was deleted or the video was removed
A URL outlives the post it pointed at. If the uploader deleted the video, made their account private, or the post was removed after a copyright complaint, the link still looks valid but resolves to nothing. Open the link directly in a browser: if Facebook shows "this content isn't available right now", the video is gone and there is nothing to retrieve.
You copied the wrong link
Copying from the address bar while scrolling a feed often captures the feed URL rather than the video's own. Use the timestamp or the share option on the post itself to get a permalink — it should contain a long numeric video id. Shortened fb.watch links work too.
It is a live broadcast that has not finished
A stream that is still running has no completed file to download. Wait until the broadcast ends and the recording appears on the page, then try again. Replays behave like ordinary videos once saved.
Regional or age restrictions
Some videos are limited by country or marked for adult audiences, and both require a signed-in session that satisfies the restriction. These will not work here, by design.
It worked yesterday and fails today
Facebook changes how it serves video regularly, and download links carry expiry timestamps. If a link you saved earlier has stopped working, fetch it again rather than reusing the old one — the video is fine, the link simply aged out.
