This Instagram video downloader saves a public Reel, video or photo post in two steps: copy its link, paste it into the box above and press Download. The tool finds the file Instagram itself streams for that post and hands it to you as it is: an MP4 with sound for a video, the full-size picture for a photo, and every item of a carousel. It works in the browser on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install and no Instagram login.
What this Instagram video downloader can save
Reels, videos in feed posts (older IGTV videos included), single photos, and carousel posts that mix photos and videos, all from public accounts. A good test: if the post opens in a browser without logging in, its link works here.
Stories, Highlights and posts from private accounts are not offered. Instagram shows those only to signed-in accounts that are allowed to see them, and this site never signs in to Instagram with your account, so it cannot reach them.
The quality you get
Instagram keeps one ready-made MP4 for each video, with the picture and the sound in the same file, and that is the file you receive. For a Reel it is usually 720 × 1280, Instagram’s 720p. Instagram’s app can play sharper versions, but it assembles them while streaming from separate picture and sound tracks, so no single file of that quality exists to save. A downloader that promises 1080p or 4K from Instagram is either stitching those tracks together or promising something it cannot deliver.
Nothing is converted, compressed again or stretched to look bigger. Photos come at the largest size Instagram stores for the post.
Instagram’s own Download button, and how this differs
Instagram’s app has a Download option of its own: tap the share button under a Reel from a public account and choose Download. It is handy, with three limits:
- It stamps the video. The saved Reel carries Instagram’s logo and the account name on the picture.
- The creator can switch it off, for one Reel or for the whole account, and then the option is simply missing.
- The sound can be missing. A Reel that uses licensed music may be saved silent.
It also works only in the app and only for Reels. This tool works in any browser, for Reels, feed videos and photos, and gives you the file Instagram plays, with its sound and with nothing added.
No watermark added, no app, no login
The file is passed on exactly as Instagram serves it, so nothing is added to the picture. A video that already carried another app’s logo when it was posted keeps it: that mark is part of the picture, and no downloader can take it off.
You never need an Instagram account here, and this site never asks for one. Treat any downloader that asks for your Instagram password as a warning sign, and any that wants you to install an app or a browser extension as one too.
Saving just the sound as MP3
When a post holds a single video with sound, the results also offer Convert to MP3. The audio is taken from Instagram’s own file and saved as an MP3 of about 190 kbps that plays in any music app, offline. A Reel converts while you wait; a long video is queued and the page tells you when it is ready. The MP3 is deleted from this site after 72 hours, so download it straight away. Carousels and photos have no MP3 option.
Saving Instagram videos on iPhone
Use Safari. When you press Download, the iPhone saves the video in the Files app, in the Downloads folder. To move it to Photos, open it in Files, tap the share button and choose Save Video. A photo is saved the same way, with Save Image.
Saving on Android or a computer
On Android, Chrome and most other browsers put the file in the Downloads folder, and the gallery shows it a few seconds later. On a computer it lands in your usual download folder. The file name is a long code Instagram gave the file; rename it to anything you like without affecting the video.
Posts with several photos and videos
For a carousel, paste the post’s link once. Every photo and video in it is listed with its own Download button, so you can keep all of them or only the ones you want.
When an Instagram link will not work
A link fails when the post is not public: an account set to private, a Story or a Highlight, a post that was deleted or archived, or one Instagram limits to certain countries. Instagram also hides age-restricted posts from anyone who is not logged in, so those may not be available here. To check, open the link in a private browser window: if Instagram asks you to log in, this tool usually cannot reach it either, and the message under the box says why.
Using saved videos fairly
A saved video is yours to watch offline, keep for reference or use in your own private projects. It still belongs to the person who made it: ask before posting it anywhere else, credit the creator when you do, and never present someone else’s video as your own.
