What you can save from Douyin
Public Douyin videos, short or long, and the sound of any of them as an MP3. Every kind of Douyin link works: the text the app’s Share → Copy link puts on your clipboard (paste all of it; the address inside is found), v.douyin.com links, douyin.com/video addresses, and a video you opened from the feed or a search. Douyin, often called the Chinese TikTok, is a separate app from TikTok, and this page is for Douyin links.
Photo posts, the picture slideshows Douyin calls 图文, cannot be saved here: this tool reads videos only, and the message under the box says so when you paste one.
The quality you get
Douyin keeps several versions of each video, and the list shows every one with its exact size. The first is the sharpest in H.264 — usually 1080p or 720p — which plays on every phone, computer and TV. Versions in HEVC (H.265) follow: smaller files that play on iPhone, Mac and most newer Android phones, while some Windows computers need Microsoft’s free HEVC extension to open them.
Douyin keeps no 4K. A site that offers a Douyin video in 4K is enlarging a smaller picture, which makes the file bigger without making it sharper. Nothing is converted or compressed again here: you receive the file Douyin itself stores.
No Douyin watermark, no app, no login
When you save a video inside the Douyin app, it stamps the Douyin logo and the creator’s Douyin ID on the picture. The file you get here is the version Douyin’s own player streams, which carries no such mark. Nothing is removed or edited: text or a logo that was part of the video when it was posted stays, because it is part of the picture.
You never need a Douyin account or the Douyin app here — handy, since the app is hard to get outside China — and this site never asks for a password. Treat any downloader that asks for your Douyin login as a warning sign.
Straight from Douyin to your device
This site finds the video and gives the file a proper name, but the video itself travels from Douyin’s servers straight to your browser: it is never stored here and never passes through this site. That is why it downloads at the full speed of your connection, and why nothing of it is kept here after you leave. The one exception is an MP3: to make one, this site’s server takes the sound from the smallest version, converts it and keeps the MP3 only for a short while.
Saving Douyin videos on iPhone
Use Safari. When you press Download, the iPhone saves the video in the Files app, in the Downloads folder. To move it to Photos, open it in Files, tap the share button and choose Save Video.
Saving on Android or a computer
On Android, Chrome and most other browsers put the file in the Downloads folder, and the gallery shows it a few seconds later. On a computer it lands in your usual download folder. The file is named after the account and the video’s title, and you can rename it freely without affecting the video. If an HEVC version will not open on a Windows computer, install the HEVC extension or save the H.264 version instead.
When a Douyin link will not work
A link fails when the video is not public: an account set to private, a video shared only with friends, a video that was deleted, or a LIVE broadcast, which is not a video. Photo posts cannot be saved either, and a share link that no longer opens anything fails too. The message under the box says which of these it is.
To check a link yourself, open it in a private browser window: if douyin.com plays the video there — behind its login pop-up, which you can close — the link works here. If a download stops halfway, press Download again: the tool fetches a fresh address from Douyin.
Using saved videos fairly
A saved video is yours to watch offline, keep for reference or use in your own private projects. It still belongs to the person who made it: ask before posting it anywhere else, credit the creator when you do, and never use someone else’s video to pass yourself off as them or to sell something.
