Privacy Policy
GetFbVideo ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect and why. Nothing here is new: it describes what the site has always done, in more detail than before.
What we collect
We do not require accounts, and there is nothing to sign up for. When you use the downloader we process four things: the video link you paste, your IP address, your browser type, and which pages you visit. That data is used for rate limiting, abuse prevention and aggregate statistics — nothing else.
Your IP address is shortened before it is written to our logs. For an IPv4 address the final number is replaced with a zero, so 203.0.113.47 is stored as 203.0.113.0. For IPv6 only the first three groups are kept. What remains is enough to tell one region from another for rate limiting, and not enough to identify a household.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data. We do not build user profiles. We do not keep the videos you download for longer than the conversion cache technically requires, and we never publish or re-share them.
We also never ask you to sign in to Facebook, and we could not use your account if you offered it. The tool only reaches content a signed-out visitor could already open, which is why private videos are out of reach here — that limit is a privacy decision as much as a technical one.
Cookies
The site sets two cookies at most, and only one of them can reach an ordinary visitor.
fbg_v expires after a day and exists only to count visits; fbg_session belongs to the admin panel and never reaches a visitor. Neither can recognise you on a later visit or follow you to another site, and our Cookie Policy sets out exactly what each one stores. If advertising is enabled on this install, ad networks may set cookies of their own under their policies; our Cookie Policy covers that in full.
Data retention
The download log keeps only the most recent entries — one thousand by default — and older rows are deleted automatically as new ones arrive. Finished and failed jobs are removed after 48 hours, cached video information expires after 24, and converted audio files are deleted within hours of being made. Administrator activity is kept longer, for 180 days, because it is the record of who changed what.
